batman inking disasterby *Andrew-Robinson

so i just had to share this inking disaster. i started with a decent drawing of batman- even though the pose is a little stiff. so anyways i thought i would just go crazy with the inks and it got crazy alright. i assumed i could get away without properly pencilling a background. so without having a proper direction i just contradicted myself over and over in the inks.
i mean there are elements that i like- just wish i would have put more thought into spotting the black shapes and the white shapes. then to top it off i tried to add some grey markers in hopes of pulling out some fourth quarter magic and it just didn't happen. the funny thing is- i still took the time to sign it.
anyway this was supposed to be a commission but i couldn't give them this piece. it kinda looks like spaghetti.

there are some areas i like- just wish it worked better as a whole. sometimes you eat the brush and sometimes the brush eats you.

Go Mignola on it and fill in most of that background! Leave a few spot whites around the hands maybe but you could seriously lose the rest in black. Love Batman's head on this one; it still pops off the piece.
